Discover some of the SBA’s resources for small business owners

Owning a small business is difficult. Luckily, the SBA has many resources that can help small business owners. Around 1 million small business owners utilize the SBA’s business resources every year, helping them and their businesses succeed. All of the resources on this page are provided by the SBA at little or no cost to the business owner.

General Resources

Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs)

The SBA’s Small Business Development Centers are a national network of entrepreneurship centers that provide one-on-one counseling and training to small business owners. They can help with business plan development, marketing strategies, financial management, and other areas of business growth and development.

Learning Center

The SBA Learning Center is an online learning platform designed to educate small business owners on how to start, run, and grow their business. It has lessons on many topics, including managing your business, marketing your business, growing your business, and more.

SCORE Business Mentorship

SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives) is a non-profit organization that the SBA has partnered with to offer free mentoring and business counseling to small business owners. SCORE mentors are experienced volunteers who provide guidance on various aspects of running a business, including business planning, marketing, and financial management.

Resources for Women

The SBA offers many resources to women business owners, including its Women’s Business Centers and its ASCENT learning platform.

Women’s Business Centers (WBCs)

The SBA’s Women’s Business Centers are a national network of entrepreneurship centers designed to assist women entrepreneurs with starting and growing their businesses. They offer one-on-one training and counseling, as well as local networking opportunities.

ASCENT

ASCENT is an online learning platform designed to educate women entrepreneurs on how to start, run, and grow their business. It offers things like educational videos, exercises and tools to help you apply key practices to your business, fireside chats with woman business leaders, and more.

Resources for Veterans

The SBA offers multiple resources to help veteran and military spouse business owners, including its network of Veterans Business Outreach Centers and its Boots to Business and Boots to Business Reboot Programs.

Veterans Business Outreach Centers (VBOCs)

The SBA’s Veterans Business Outreach Centers are a national network of entrepreneurship centers designed to help veterans and military spouses start or grow their business. They offer mentorship and assistance, including counseling, training, and resources to help veteran entrepreneurs succeed.

Boots to Business and Boots to Business Reboot

The Boots to Business and Boots to Business Reboot programs are entrepreneurial education and training programs offered by the SBA. The Boots to Business Program is designed to help service members and military spouses transition to civilian life, while the Reboot program is designed to help veterans. Both programs provides participants with an overview of business ownership and include a two day in-person program, as well as optional additional online courses.
